I have a love for the deaf community and went to school to be an interpreter for them. Sign language became part of my life at a young age when I met a deaf man in the church I attended at the time and asked him for candy. From there on out my heart/passion for deaf people in the US and over seas has grown. I love being able to help people know the basics and conversationally sign with those who are hard of hearing or deaf. To be able to bridge a gap in America because of a language barrier is a really cool feeling. I have come to learn not to limit what you can or what to do in your life but to run after it and pursue it whole heartily. I take learning seriously but I also make it fun.

I first need to know what stage the student is in his/ her learning and what he/she is working on in class. I have sign language books and videos. I will work with the student to make sure he/she is understanding and doing the signs correctly.
I have an associate's and a bachelor's degree in American Sign Language/ English interpretation issued by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I am currently working as an interpreter full time at a high school. I have worked for Arkansas school for the deaf. I have Ark credentials for interpreting (level 2/2). I have passed both the written portions of the Texas certification test for interpreting (BEI) and I have passed the written portion of the EIPA, the national certification test for educational interpreters. I will be taking my performance portion of the EIPA next month (Dec).

My comments on tutoring Sign Language : I am deaf and I have been a signer since the age of 2. ASL is my first langauge and I can certainly help you make it one of your langauges.

I have been signing since I was 2 years old. I was born Deaf and I have also have had history teaching sign language to others.
