I have worked in many aspects of tutoring from being a lead teacher in a daycare classroom to my current job as a bilingual teacher assistant in an elementary school. I have held my current job for four years. I have worked with children with varying disabilities. I have also tutored college students in study and test taking skills, reading and comprehension, math, and English language arts.

It is difficult for me to say which age of student I love working with because each student I have worked with from age 6 - 25 has been very rewarding. I am very patient and work diligently to find creative strategies and approaches to teaching. As a graduate of a Big Ten school, and a current master’s level student, I have had many focuses in school that I can teach in the tutoring setting. As I mentioned, I have 3 younger siblings-I've been helping with homework forever, and I understand the frustrations that naturally occur when concepts seem elusive. Additionally, I am completely aware that I'm not perfect; I've taken a lot of upper level, difficult courses, and know what it's like to have trouble, sometimes with the easiest concepts. However, consistent interactions with a teacher helped me to find success in so many gruesome classes (Advanced Computational Biology, anyone?). Most importantly, I know from my own experiences that there can be such a small difference between failing and excelling in class, and that anyone is capable of finding success with the confidence boost that just a little extra attention brings.

I enjoy helping people learn English. Have a lot of understanding and compassion of what it means to learn a foreign language, as I have learned two. I have also lived as an expatriate in a foreign country, so I understand a lot of what the expatriate has to go through in a new land. I am used to teaching all types of learners, from slow to fast, and am able to adjust.
