I used my skills as a librarian to encourage students to explore and enjoy books. We explored different types of literature genres, researched using the computer, and utilized the reference books in our library. My goal was to help struggling readers overcome their hesitation to read and explore different avenues of information sources.
I have been a school librarian/media specialist for 26 years. I have worked with students in grades K-12. My role as a librarian enabled me to interact with students of all learning levels. Students who struggled would come to me to find materials that they could understand more easily. I love teaching because of the feeling of helping someone who is truly struggling in class! I believe that everyone can learn, but some teachers styles don't match up with the students learning style. I am a very patient and considerate person. I am a firm believer that many students can't learn strictly through theory and need to be walked through example problems. Walking through problems gives them a better visualization of what they are trying to solve.

I am a driven individual who has obtained a Masters in Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare in addition to a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. While attending graduate school I worked as a substitute teacher which allowed me to gain experience working with children of various ages and levels. I am a graduate of a major university and have several degrees: BS in Clothing, Merchandising and Textiles, AA in Political and Economic Science, as well as two minors, one in General Business and the other in Communications.
