Individualization is an important part of my teaching style. I think it is important to identify what the student needs to work on and present it in a way the student can grasp the concept and enjoy learning. The student has to enjoy learning to succeed. I try to present material in such a way that the student will find it interesting and use different techniques to help them remember what they have learned. I also use the pre-teaching/re-teaching strategy. The student doesn't feel overwhelmed with the newly presented material, more confident to participate in class, more willing to ask a question, and is more successful with class work and homework assignments.

I have spent most of my career in helping students with learning challenges and other special needs. My strongest asset is that I am very good at teaching students on a one-to-one basis. I have tutored a lot of students who are considered to be slow learners or who have some kind of learning disability. When I first started in the education field, I helped to transition students from being in the least restrictive environment to going to a regular classroom. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with all children. I firmly believe that all children learn differently. I currently am a Special Education Teacher at Canastota High School, where I teach a self contained class in the areas of 15:1 English 10, 15:1:1 English 11, and 15:1 Algebra II. Through the years, I have learned how important language and english is in our community; in result, I have a bachelors degree in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences. This degree enabled me to gain an understanding in the areas of english. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated high school in 2000 with a local diploma and then went on to college at Utica School of Commerce. I graduated in 2002 with an Associated Degree as an Administrative Specialist. I have worked at a few different jobs and just went back to college again at Utica School of Commerce and got my certificate degree as a Medical Office Assistant.
When helping others, I do it two ways. I tell them how to do it and guide them through it. Other times, I show them how to do it. However, I do not do it for them. I would love to have the chance to help children succeed in their education! It would be an honor!
