I started teaching Sunday School when I was in Junior High. I taught a little boy in my class how to read and it was the most rewarding experience I have ever encountered. As aforementioned, throughout high school, I began tutoring students in Math, English, Spanish, Science, and History. I tutored one 6th grade student who was ADHD. He had several tutors before me, but none had the patience to work with him. I started tutoring him and fell in love with this particular child. It was hard at first because everything distracted him, but I tried different approaches until he finally began to understand the material. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style includes using visuals such as writing on a dry erase board and Powerpoint. I have a great sense of humor but I can firm when I have to be. I am patient and caring and seem to have an intuitive ability to know what the student needs the most.
I have over 25 years experience as a hospital (CFO) Chief Financial Officer. My educational experience includes: teaching high school, teaching college and tutoring elementary and junior high school. A Little Bit About Me...

Because of my work with persons who have physical and mental problems, I have learned to be patient and sharpen my listening skills. This way I am also able to recognize when someone is frustrated or exhausted and use these signs to better cope with any behavioral problems that may arise. I always utilize positive language and seek to understand an issue a student may have to help promote a comfortable learning environment. I find that many students respond well to a good listener and someone that takes time to give them individualized attention.
I have a BA in Anthropology which means that I have experience working with diverse groups of people and have a certain understanding and appreciation of the differences among individuals.
