The majority of my formal teaching experience has come in the past four years during my graduate career, during which I taught 3 semesters of college-level introductory and cellular biology labs. Additionally, I have worked extensively with incoming graduate students, developing and teaching workshops on presentations, oral examinations, and general studying skills. I am passionate about biology and the sciences and am a firm believer in an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Having just finished my master's thesis, I have strong outlining and writing skills that are applicable to any field of research. I am an advocate of self-discovery and prefer to ask questions of my students rather than answer them. I tend to relate more to content related teaching. As always, "hands on" and experiential learning is always better. When material and lessons can be related to the students, much better success in learning may be achieved. Many of my former students have progressed to the the Academic High School in Charleston and then on to well known Colleges and Universities. There own stories are a testiment to how I teach. As a recent graduate of Clemson University, I am very familiar with school and the tools necessary to learn and excel. I graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences.
