BiologyTeacher. I have the same responsibilities as a regular teacher in any school classroom. I teach the lesson(s) that the regular teacher leaves for me to do. I also server that teachers duty should they have it while they are out. I refer any student if necessary to the office due to their behavior. If for some reason the regular teacher does not leave a lesson plan, I will create a lesson plan on that subject from items in my substitute bag that I created or from one of the text books in the classroom.

The majority of my formal teaching experience has come in the past four years during my graduate career, during which I taught 3 semesters of college-level introductory and cellular biology labs. Additionally, I have worked extensively with incoming graduate students, developing and teaching workshops on presentations, oral examinations, and general studying skills. Starting in 1992, I served as an adjunct professor at Johnson & Wales University teaching a 300 level environmental science class, a 100 level general non-major biology class, and also a 100 food sanitation class with a HACCP certification. In 1999, I left and began teaching middle school where I have been since. During my time, I have taught 6-8th grade science, 6-8th grade social studies, 6th and 7th grade math, and 6th through high school credit enginering under the Project Lead the Way program. I have also taught reading skills and work with the Chinese community here in Charleston with English language.
