A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with children and youth pre-school - 12th grade since 1982. I have done some literacy instruction with adults. I have been recognized as an outstanding mentor to disadvantaged youth. I have written and published articles, and currently am finishing a novel.I have worked one-on-one with autistic children, grades K-5, and am certified in exceptional education and elementary K-6 in Florida. I have worked in Alachua County public schools since 2007 as a substitute teacher and aide, and have spent many hours one-on-one with children (K-5) needing extra support and assistance. My husband is also a tutor and teacher, and we have helped many students to realize the importance of a good education. We are book collectors and have used our collection to inspire students to love to read. I graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2007. I worked at Savanna Oaks Middle School in Verona, WI as an Educational Assistant specializing in Special Education for one year. I created lesson plans and designed educational tools for various students’ needs, helped students with proper social interactions and skills, and tracked students' progress.
