My teaching style is my tutoring style as I do mostly tutoring. I work with students to determine the missing math procedures or concepts. When a student misses a question, I do not simply show them the solution or correct answer. I solve the problem with the student (without looking at the answer) by discussing the approach (procedure) together. In this way, we share the approach to the solution and weak spots are revealed.
I have had a very successful career as an Engineer/Plant Manager. I changed careers and I am now Teaching/Tutoring. I teach/tutor High School math at an inter-city school (IPS). I have been a junior high math teacher, which includes teaching Algebra for 25 years. I also do tutoring after school and in the summer. I tutored at Sylvan for 10 years. I hold a BA degree in Math and a MS degree in Math. I have taken many workshops over the years. I alwasy attend the ICTM conference.
I enjoy math and try to make it fun for the students. We do hands on activities which are fun for them, but also gets them to understand the concept.
