A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a graduated student from Purdue University with a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology (SLHS). Between my time in both high school and college, my GPA never dropped below a 3.0. Both settings of education included years of math and science, and in high school four years of writing, English, and history. Volunteer work has been essential since high school, helping teachers, the elderly, disabled, and churches. I also have leadership skills as an assistant editor to a high school magazine as well as an officer for a leadership group for minority and international students.

I experimented with Political Science for two years, in which I took classes in criminology, speech, and history. My next year of college was spent in English and Writing, where I focused on the obvious, as well as classes in psychology. I have learned that the best way to teach is to let the student know how much you enjoy the subject and then work to make them feel the same way. I also know that you cannot predict what methods will be best for all people. I prepare extensivesly with sample tests, worksheets, as well as fun learning activities. When it comes to the tutoring session, I am not uptight about my style, I can sense when a method is or is not working and then use any or all of the methods that help the student retain the knowledge. When that happens, you know that there will not be much of a need for you anymore, but it is a great feeling to help someone enjoy learning as much as I do personally.
