A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that one key to successfully helping children of all ages to learn, is a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Since every child learns differently, I always adapt my style of teaching a particular subject to best fit the needs of each individual. I have found that incorporating every day examples and scenarios into the concepts that a student is learning, can help them better understand the subject matter, and the application of these concepts. I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I have spent five years tutoring and 17 teaching, including 12 years of summer school. The best thing about teaching and tutoring science is that it easily transfers to all of the other disciplines. My experiences and my insatiable appetite for learning have enabled me to make significant connections across the disciplines and to keep on learning!
