Tutored students as a part of an after school program with inner-city, Washington High School. I have worked quite a lot with elementary school children, whether it be in or outside of work. I have done independent tutor work, mainly in the fields of Art and Language Arts. In the past I had a long-term job in which I was required to interact with young children, and I did so willingly. For two years in a row, I taught a Beginner's Guitar course for children and the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with young children, and helping them to understand the subject and how to apply it in their daily life. My overall goal is to help the child understand for their own good. It defeats the purpose if the child can do math or english while I am sitting right next to them. I want them to be able to retain the knowledge so when they are at school they can remember what they learned and apply it on their own.
As I recent college graduate, I spent my four years gaining knowledge, as well as learning different teaching techniques. I worked at the Boys and Girls Club at the local middle school for my entire four years of college. Monday through Friday, I tutored elementary and middle school students in math, english, and health.

As a student at the University of Detroit Mercy, I worked as a tutor for two years. I helped other students struggling in mathematics and biology classes. Also, my senior year in college I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a Microbiolgy lab. In addition, I did student teaching for a Catholic Middle School.
Many people have different teaching skills and techniques. I do not believe any technique to educate a child is better than any other technique. Each child learns differently. Understanding the fact that children learn differently is crucial. The teacher must be able to adapt to the child's learning style. I believe I have the ability to use an array of teaching styles to help children. I would enjoy the opportunity to help children learn.

Being currently enrolled in one of the Top 20 schools in the state of Michigan, learning is something that comes to me as second nature. Math, English, Science, Foreign Language and History are the five required subjects in the Troy School District, and they offer hundreds of other courses to excel the student body into a wide range of future careers.
