I have worked quite a lot with elementary school children, whether it be in or outside of work. I have done independent tutor work, mainly in the fields of Art and Language Arts. In the past I had a long-term job in which I was required to interact with young children, and I did so willingly. Bringing Out The Potential In Students...

My method of tutoring is to work with students where they are and add to their skills, to accomplish the final outcome, preferably an "A" or "B." Some students are visual learners and some are informational learners, or some students combine the two. The potential I see in students is what I try to bring out and have them realize they are capable of going a step further, to reach their goal. My comments on tutoring Literature : I am a certified teacher of French and English, I have 18 years of experience at the middle and high school levels.

I am a certified teacher of French and English; I have taught both subjects at the middle and high school levels for 18 years. In addition, I have 6 years of tutoring experience before becoming a teacher. I have worked with students of all ages, elementary through college. I am one course shy of my Masters' in French. I have worked with inner-city middle school students for more than 10 years, through a program called "Math Corps." (Google it.)

My approach to tutoring is to make learning fun and exciting for students. I have to learn what they find interesting and apply it to my lessons and style. Not every student likes the same things, or learns the same way. I am a huge advocate of Howard Gardener and his Multiple Intelligence Theories. Using different techniques and new, fresh ideas will maintain the student’s interest. Learning by rote instructions and memorization does work, but there are other tactics and styles that I incorporate in tutoring.
