I first determine the student's level in each subject, and tutor accordingly. Since every person learns in a different way, I may try more than one approach until it is clear that the student is gaining an understanding of the subject matter. I am patient, positive, and encouraging. I find it very rewarding to help others. When I see the student learning and advancing, I share in their joy at overcoming a stumbling block, or accomplishing their goal. I am currently working as the Math Specialist at a K-8th school where I provide assistance to students who need extra help or are performing below grade level. I also work with students in 8th grade teaching Algebra to those who have the ability to learn at a faster pace than the class as a whole.

My approach to teaching math and science is to thoroughly prepare a student by first emphasizing the fundamentals. Too many students get "lost" if advanced concepts are taught too soon. Then, once a student is ready, the studies should emphasize the students strengths and interests to the utmost possible.
