I really enjoy teaching and working with people of all ages. I believe everyone is able to grasp the concept of math and science when taught effectively and with patience. I am a very easy going and friendly person, and I have been told I explain things with enough detail to understand, but not too much to bog down the information. A Little Bit About Me...

Before I begin to teach I like to attempt to understand how much the student comprehends about the particular subject. I prefer to teach globally and with examples. I would rather the student understand what is going on rather than memorizing a step by step approach. I also have found it beneficial to implement a reward system.
I would like to let it be known that I would be in my senior year in college and do not yet possess a bachelor's degree. I have two younger brothers in middle school who I have been helping with math and science homework for the past few years.

A Little Bit About Me...

Currently, I am a systems engineering graduate student at Penn State University. I have earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from SUNY Oswego with minors in applied statistics and philosophy. My last position was as an academic mentor and tutor for AmeriCorps. I have one year of tutoring experience at Hannibal High School in Hannibal, New York. I tutored students in subjects including mathematics, science and history.
I try to relate to the children as best as I can and make the learning fun for them whenever possible. I am easy going, polite and helpful. I also talk to them about other things besides homework and studying, such as personal problems. My students trust me and this makes it easier for me to help them and to teach them. Most of my students were high school freshmen and sophomores.
