My comments on tutoring Musical : I can tutor high school students in the clarinet and in the basic rules of music theory. I made the all state symphonic band once, and the concert band once, both in high school. I made the Texas regioin band in junior high twice as well, also symphonic once and concert once.

I have tutored various friends in English, poetry, reading, grammar, biology, music, and study skills since my own school days. I am a quick learner, and a diligent student myself. I am flexible in my teaching style, and am adept at communicating clearly with audiences of all sorts. I am also quite handy at helping students understand complex concepts.
I myself am a visual learner, but can teach in any of the major learning styles.

I take a servant leadership, customer-oriented approach to my responsibilities. I routinely try to answer the following question: What can I do to help students achieve their goals? For research papers, I encouraged students to pursue their own interests, such as a subject related to their major, in order to give them a better opportunity to enjoy the research process as opposed to merely fulfilling an exercise requirement.
From January 2006 through August 2008, I worked part-time as a freshman composition instructor, writing lab tutor, and teaching assistant for the English department at UNT. As an instructor, I taught two classes per long semester and one, intensive summer session. During the fall semesters, I taught Composition I, which introduced students to a variety of writing concepts, such as the personal essay and the visual text. The students wrote five papers, thre ... read more

I have always had a strong passion for teaching and working with children. I have had several classes in Children Psychology, and through these classes I have learned many different approaches to the different styles of learning children have. I love children, and am excited and dedicated to teaching and discovering their potential.

A Little Bit About Me...

While earning my BA in economics from The University of Texas, I also completed all my pre-med courses. This has provided me with a strong background in mathematics, social sciences, and natural sciences. I have always had a strong aptitude for integrating concepts from different disciplines and exploring how they relate to one another. This skill is useful when explaining new ideas to other students in terms that they can relate to.
Attitude is the biggest obstacle when trying to learn something new. I try to make the learning process as fun and interesting as possible. When a student is struggling, I believe it is vital to build their confidence towards success. It is important to not make them feel overwhelmed, but to show them how to conquer a problem step by step. I can help provide the tools that your child needs to realize his/her ability.

I have always had an interest in math and science, and I got my start tutoring in high school by helping fellow classmates and friends in these subjects. I went on to earn my BS in Mechanical Engineering from U.T. Austin. I have also spent much of my life in the world of music and began teaching beginner piano lessons several months ago. If the subject matter is analytical and involves numbers, I can certainly help you figure it out.
I enjoy working with children of all ages, but particularly excel with more mature students trying to tackle more difficult subject matter. One of my greatest strengths is helping people understand abstract, technical material by simplifying the concepts and using analogies that the student can relate to. Often times we create a barrier because something seems like it should be hard. I make it my goal to break through that barrier by reducing the ... read more

As a graduating senior in Microbiology My comprehensive coursework in the hard sciences, including Biology and Chemistry, provides me with substantial knowledge in several domains. By the end of my time with the tutoring center, I was designated a CRLA Level 3 certified tutor.
