Almost all students get excited about learning when it is presented in a manner that fits their learning style and is appropriate for their ability/level. Assessment of both is mandatory before you can begin effective and meaningful instruction. Once these assessments are completed, learning objectives should be identified and consistently evaluated. Spiraling curriculum is a strategy that I frequently use with students during tutoring session. It allows a learner to activate their prior knowledge and then build upon it. A Little Bit About Me...

My experiences as the oldest of seven children instilled in me the desire to educate others, so I obtained my BS degree in Biology and Secondary Education. I taught 7th and 8th grade sciences for five years before staying home to be a full time mother and substitute teaching on the high school level for 3 more years. I operated a small daycare during my children's growing years before returning to work fulltime in the business world. I have trained, mentored and supervised many, many young people over the years and still enjoy great personal reward from helping them grow as individuals, gain self-confidence and learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

My style tends to range based on who I am trying to teach, and I suppose is most accurately labeled as adaptive. I understand that different people learn things in different ways, and so I try to accommodate that with my teaching. For instance if I found that a student learns better visually then I would attempt to use visual cues and examples in lesson plans to make the material as easy to understand as possible. I also believe in keeping a very loose and pleasant atmosphere, and making sure that everyone feels comfortable and safe, which I believe also assists in the learning process.
