I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri in 1993. Since graduation, I have acquired 15 years of experience through classoom teaching, tutoring and educational coaching. Most of my classroom experience was spent teaching 5th grade. I tutored elementary students for 12 years, and was recently trained as a Reading Coach. My certifications are in the areas of Elementary Education 1-8, Reading 4-8, and Social Studies 4-8. My first major mentoring/teaching experience occurred in college when I began leading study groups and eventually organizing tutoring sessions with a number of my fellow English, Calculus, and Physics students. After graduating with a double major in Psychology and English with an emphasis in Literature, I started my graduate work in English and a teaching position as a high school English teacher. I took education certification courses and passed the state exam for the State of Florida for middle school and high school English. I was an instructional aide for Adult Education at Martin County where I tutored in spelling, grammar, literature and prepared adults for the G.E.D.
