I love teaching and working with all learners. I believe all children can learn! I feel that I am an organized, patient, caring individual who teaches students using their learning style and choices. Also, I feel that being able to listen is an important characteristic one needs to display in order to work effectively with learners. I am currently in my second year of teaching. Before teaching, I worked in an afterschool program for students.I have had multiple experiences working with children from all types of backgrounds, socio-economic status, and ability levels. I hold a bachelor degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement as an Instructional Strategist I, which has enabled me to gain an understanding of the variety of teaching and learning strategies. In addition, I am a mentor teacher to two new teachers and I am working toward my Masters degree in Education.

I teach in a high school Resource Room, a program designed primarily for students with learning disabilities or at-risk students- those students who are at-risk of failing a subject due to reading/comprehension difficulties, the fast pace of the regular classroom, or a learning style that does not fit the traditional classroom. My expertise is designing a course of study that fits the individual needs of the student - finding out how they learn best so they are able to learn. I tutor all core subject areas in the Resource Room and I have also tutored on-line for Sylvan Educate Online in Remedial Reading and Math. I believe in setting high expectations for students and believe that all students can learn and excel. Most of the students I work with have had such negative experiences with school that they become frustrated. I work to restore their self-esteem and to teach them to recognize

I love working with children and helping fulfill their potential. I like at children as water that must be directed in the right direction. I will do this my trying to find research validated methods of teaching that teaching to all the learning styles. If the child does not learn the first time I will try again and again until they have got it. As a teacher with dyslexia I felt that I was unable to teach reading to my students. I went in search of more training and found Alphabetic Phonics a Orton Gillingham program. I have sense used what I learn in the almost 160 hours of training with 11 students and seen progress in all of them.
