I tend to teach things in a visual way. Drawing pictures, diagrams and using visual aides are the best ways I have witnessed to teach kids. I also think a structured reward system is HUGE in motivating kids to succeed. You need to find out what motivates your kid (money, toys, etc) and set up a system where he/she can earn these rewards through academic success. I am currently a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. Before I started medical school I worked as a tutor for six years with two teenage boys with autism. I have taught Spanish at the middle and high school level for six years. Since I started teaching in the district where I currently work, the Spanish program has flourished, and requests for my classes exceed the space we have available for students. Students want to take my class because of my highly effective teaching style, which I described previously.
