I tend to teach things in a visual way. Drawing pictures, diagrams and using visual aides are the best ways I have witnessed to teach kids. I also think a structured reward system is HUGE in motivating kids to succeed. You need to find out what motivates your kid (money, toys, etc) and set up a system where he/she can earn these rewards through academic success. I am currently a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. Before I started medical school I worked as a tutor for six years with two teenage boys with autism. As a teacher, I do my best to create fun lessons that are both challenging and thought-provoking. I like for my students to learn to use the language without really even trying, so I create activities in which they use the vocabulary and grammar that we have just studied in little bits.
