My comments on tutoring American History : Do you want the history behind the history? Look to me for the reasons why things happened the way they did and how that affected history.

I have worked for Defense Contractors in the fields of Chemical and Biological Defense; and with experimental aircraft development across both military and civilian sectors. I have campained for candidates for local office and I have written for publication. Born and raised in West Africa I bring a love of other cultures and a true "world or global" view to history, politics and government.
I like to involve all the senses: hearing new material; experiencing the reality of an abstract concept and finally teaching or responding it back to show that the lesson has been absorbed at several levels. I believe that children are born smart. Some of them have special learning challenges and some have been taught to believe that they are not smart. By treating children as though they are intelligent and providing encouragement and learning opportunities, I have seen children grow and progress in almost astonishing ways. The sparkle in a child's eyes when they finally "get it" is the best paycheck.
After finishing my Masters Degree in Education I taught one year in a private school then opened my own business tutoring primarily homeschool students during the school year. The students I have worked with are primarily ages 11-18, but my experience with my own children includes the primary grades.
