A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a recent graduate from Brown University, with experience tutoring at the middle school, high school, and college levels. Math and Biology are my favorite things to teach--I love the subject matter and I love to see it "click" with students. In math, I received an 800 score on the SAT, and a score of 5 on each the Calculus AB and BC exams. I also tutored algebra as a high school student. I'm currently studying up on everything from Trig to Calculus II so that I can take a Multivariable Calculus class, so the material is fresh! I have worked hard over many years to asses the needs of individual students. Firstly, I assess the learning level and learning style of the student over the first week or two. Secondly, I approach the teaching style according to those findings. Thirdly, I assess the progress of the student in relation to the teaching style and make any necessary changes in approach. More About This Tutor...

As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so.
I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.
