A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated at second to the top of my High School Class. I have a 4.0 GPA with ASU. I believe in being strict about studying. I believe in taking education seriously. Why have to back track? Many people could easily get good grades without applying studying or being in class. I always worked very hard to organize studying techniques and times so I understand the challenges that students face a lot of times.
Caring and Loving. Visual, providing examples in a real-world context. Teaching in a style that the student understands best!

My approach to teaching is that all children can learn given opportunities in a "safe" environment. I taught many students with learning challenges and I had to individualize their program. I used multiple intelligences to help students learn using their strengths to help them with their weaknesses. It made learning more fun and easier for them to grasp.
I graduated with a BA in French and Elementary Education and taught for 4 years in multi-age classrooms. Then I tutored while I stayed home with my children. I resumed teaching 1995 and earned an MAT in Elementary Education in 1998. My experience continued in multi-age classrooms where I taught reading, math, English, handwriting, science, social studies, P.E., art, and music for grades 1-6. I also tutored students after school in remedial reading using Project Read.

A Little Bit About Me...

With over 35 years of work experience, 20 years of volunteering to children and their parents, a BA in education and a MA in management, my experiences are diverse and have allowed me to utilize and grow my skills and gifts. I believe in life-long learning and empowering others to accomplish their goals. I have a sense or ingrained need to be dedicated to something outside of myself. Helping others, especially as it relates to either children or people who, for whatever circumstance, have had to endure hardship, misunderstanding or injustice. My dedication is to help empower others.
As a trainer and coach, I work with diverse groups (age, background, education, etc.) and utilize varied styles to meet the needs of the participants. Adult learners need to connect past knowledge with new discoveries and have a sense that what they are learning will benefit them in some way, chi ... read more

I worked as an assistant preschool teacher for a little over 2 years.I worked with two year olds mostly, but the children ranged from infants to K level. I was responsible for supervising and assisting in teaching a classroom of 20 two year olds.
I am very patient and detailed teacher. I go step by step when trying to teach a child how to do something. I don't skip steps. If they still don't understand, I don't go on to the next part of the lesson. I make sure they know and understand how to do the first part before I go onto the second part. Also I make things as simple as possible, complexing a subject doesn't do any good when it comes to teaching.

I have earned a bachelor's degree from one of the most well regarded institutions in the world and I have a solid math and science background. For two summers while an undergrad, I taught an engineering course to high school juniors participating in the YESS (Young Engineers and Science Scholars) program. I also tutored a junior high school boy for two years in all subjects. I've tutored classmates throughout high school in all subjects. And since July 2006, I have been teaching a GMAT test prep course through Kaplan.
I really like to tailor my style to each student. I also believe that when it comes to math, students often need as much help getting over their fear of math as they do with the actual concepts. I have had good experience designing science experiments and hands-on projects to help demonstrate science concepts and bring these concepts to life. I was fortunate enough ... read more

I have spent 30 years in the educational field providing both guidance and counseling as well as tutoring to children ages five through fourteen. I thoroughly enjoyed being a counselor to children. I also found that tutoring students was equally rewarding. I mostly tutored language arts and reading as I consider grammar a strong point of mine. I would very much like to tutor students again through your program.
I love working with children and helping them find new and creative ways to learn. I am patient, easy going, and creative. When I tutored privately, my students enjoyed working with me and I always tried to make our sessions pleasurable and even fun! My students can always call me at home for extra help and I am available most evenings and even weekends. I truly enjoy helping students learn and achieve to their highest potential.

As a special education masters degreed professional, advocate and behavior specialist and a Board Member and WALK event founder and chairperson for the past three years for the Autism Society of America, you can be sure I believe that all students of all abilities should receive an appropriate education that takes into account their strengths, weaknesses, disability if any and learning style. The key to all teaching and learning is motivation. Teachers are challenged to find the correct motivation for each student and strategies to connect with them by connecting the real world to their curriculum and academic goals. Any child can learn, it is just that students need to be met where they are in life and rapport established to plant seeds of motivation and for learning to begin. We all remember those teachers who were kind to us, made the subject matter either fun, interesting or bot ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Having taught college English in rural China, I have found that I am extremely adaptable in my teaching style. I have the ability to precisely coordinate my teaching techniques with the background and needs of the student in order to create a succesful and executable educational support system. In teaching, I aim to provide the student with a breadth of perspective in any given topic while enhancing their analytical abilities. It is my firm belief that a mindful tutor can help make a mindful student, and that every student deserves systematic and attentive support. In teaching each and every one of my students, I take to heart the philosophy that a good education is absolutely invaluable.
Over the course of my twenty-three years I have received an international education by way of inter-continental travel and attendance to a world-class university. I have spent much time in the vol ... read more

My forte is science and math, which are often students' least favorite subjects, due to earlier difficulty. A solid basic understanding of these subjects is critical to being an independent, engaged adult; and it's just plain cool to understand how the world works! I enjoy removing the fear and guiding the students to increase their competence and self-confidence. I am funny, enthusiastic and know how to use the student's background as a "hook" to pull them into the subject.
I have a BA in Psychology, MS in Zoology and BS in Computer Science. I have lifetime Arizona Community College certification in psychology, biology, ecology and remedial math. My experience with special populations includes: three years full-time on the Navajo Reservation; three years part-time at the SALT Center at the University of Arizona working with learning disabled students; and a hands-on nature camp ... read more

As a student, I had the chance to participate in the Americorps program, where I developed and implemented programs for at-risk youth. My programs encompassed but were not limited to, ecology, animal husbandry, writing, reading, and the arts. Since then I have earned two bachelor's degrees, a BA in Education, and a BA in Elementary Education, with minors in communications and liberal arts.
Teaching comes naturally to me; I believe that everyone has the potential to be successful, given the right opportunity. Persistence, mutual admiration, and effort are the qualities that I bring with me, and they are all that I ask of the students that I work with. My goal is to make learning less of a duty and more of a stimulating quest, so that I may leave my students with the inspiration to continue learning throughout their lives.

I believe that a child can understand difficult concepts if they explore it in the right way. My style of teaching guides children so they may explore the information they need to learn. If you allow a child to ask questions, to figure out as much as they can about something, they can figure out how to use it. A one-on-one setting or small group setting is best for this style of teaching. Some may call this inquiry-based teaching and it can be used for all subjects. My goal is to guide students so they can be an active part of their learning.
In college I was able to tutor children in reading and math at Tucson Metropolitan Ministries. After I received my bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology (minoring in science education), I wanted to teach youth in an alternative setting. I taught for six months at Lutheran, Retreats, Camps and Conferences in California. I gain ... read more

I have worked with children as young as four years to 16 years of age. I taught Science-based lessons (Entomology and Marine Discovery). Also,I have tutored high school students in English and different levels of Math. Furthermore, I have an interest in English and literature as well: I have been on a Publications staff for about three years, and was also the youngest editor of the school for about two years.
