Experienced Tutor with Expertise in Math and Social Science

I have been tutoring students of all ages since I was in high school. I began by tutoring my own peers in math and social studies. I would also tutor children from 1st grade on up in all subjects. Once in college, I tutored college students and younger in many fields, primarily mathematics courses. My specialty quickly became preparation for standardized tests as well as calculus because I have a unique ability to discover how each student learns and tailor the lessons to their needs. My teaching philosophy has definitely evolved since my first teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant as a Masters Student at the University of Kentucky. Most of my teaching experience has been in classrooms with students from the toddler stage through 6th grade. My favorite areas to teach are phonics, reading, and elementary math. However, in the passed five years I have tutored pre-school age through adults in many areas, and homeschooled all areas in elementary and middle school. I also taught English as a second language. I love guiding a student through some difficult or misunderstood content and getting the "ahha!" of understanding at the end.

While working at Thornhill Education Center, I had the opportunity to work with students and help teach GED classes. My main focus was math. I also had the opportunity to teach a level 1 accounting class for community education.
I don't think I have really developed a "unique style" by only teaching a year or so.
