I also instruct Pet CPR/First Aid for the American Red Cross. This is especially fulfilling when watching children learn that there is something they can do to help save their injured or sick pet. Teaching and helping others is a passion of mine. I love the feeling I get when I realize I have helped somebody solve a problem. It makes them feel accomplished, and myself as well. When I tutor, I let the student come to me with the problem, and instead of doing it for them, I will break it down into smaller steps they can do. I will use similar examples from a book or problems I make up to show them the basics of the problem. I want to provide students with a good, strong mathematical foundation. If their foundation is strong, then it will take a lot more to shake them. I want the students to solve the problem themselves with my assistance.

I graduated from Ohio University in 1978 with a BS in Education. I went on to earn a Masters degree in Educational Administration. I hold two valid permanent teaching certificates and a professional license. I have been fortunate to have taught all grades and all subjects with the exception of 1st, 3rd, and 4th. I have also had the pleasure of being an ABLE instructor for adults. I am currently teaching high school, however have been offered a 4th grade position in math and science. I have worked with gifted, regular, and special education students. I continue to take classes at Ohio and Ashland University. Also, I am a Teaching Fellow for the Historical Society.
