I began tutoring in high school then in college, I majored in mathematics to pursue a career in teaching. My career took another direction yet I continued my passion for teaching others through tutoring at local non-profits. Last year, I taught 8th grade math at a local public middle school. This past summer, I taught summer school to 3-5th graders in both math and English. This year, I continue teaching through tutoring at an elementary school. My experience is as broad as it is varied. When I taught at Sylvan, I taught every course they needed me to. When I taught professionally, I taught teams of scientists and then instructional designers. I'm comfortable with all ages and backgrounds.

Teaching is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. I believe that everybody can learn, you just have to find the right teaching method for that individual. There are only a hand full of methods to choose from, they include: hands on, visual, reading, hearing or some unique blend of these. These are not the only methods, but these would cover most individuals. While I was teaching I would explain the material how I understood it. If that did not work it forced me to back up and come at it from a different angle. Patients is a amazing thing to have when trying to teach. Many students learn at a different pace and I feel that finding that pace for every student is important. If you try to cram or learn something to quickly it only become heartache and bad grades.
