While I was going to Butler County Community College I peer tutored students in both mathematics thru calculus II and english composition I and II. My trigonometry teacher had me substitute teach his college algebra and trigonometry courses for him while he away. This was some of the most satisfying work I have ever done. When a student finally understood what I was explaining it was like you could see the light come on in their head. Not only did I help the student learn the topic but it made me feel good because I had helped them.

In College I would form groups to try and study for upcoming test or exams. Doing this it really helped me to learn what I was studying and how other people learn as well.
Patients is a amazing thing to have when trying to teach. Many students learn at a different pace and I feel that finding that pace for every student is important. If you try to cram or learn something to quickly it only become heartache and bad grades.

I graduated with a BS in history in 1996. After nearly seven years working for a large communications corporation I returned to college to get my teaching credentials. I completed a years student teaching and have taught middle school and high school at a local private school.
