I graduated from Calvin College in 2007 with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics. My experience in tutoring ranges from fourth grade math to calculus and college level math. I have tutored in formal settings with set schedules as well as impromptu homework and study sessions. All of my tutoring experience is in mathematics.
Since every student learns differently, I find that the best teaching style is to explain concepts in multiple formats, whether oral explanations, diagrams and pictures, real-life examples, or algebraic formulas. I worked as a substitute teacher for a charter high school in St. Louis, MO directly out of undergrad. I taught most subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Algebra, History and Language Arts. As I mentioned, I have 3 younger siblings-I've been helping with homework forever, and I understand the frustrations that naturally occur when concepts seem elusive.
