Teaching strategies which have worked for me in the classroom include cooperative learning groups that encourage social interaction, as well as, jigsaw groups. The use of PowerPoint presentations to illustrate the material utilizes a technology component which I find useful. Strategies for special needs students would include making sure to see if they are a visual, auditory, or sensory learner and teach to those senses. I would need to tailor my lesson plans by making the information more interactive for students who have special needs or are English language learners to make sure that they are learning the information. I began tutoring high school and middle school students when I was a college student and high school soccer coach. Upon completion of my degrees and being awarded my teaching certification I began teaching in a high school math classroom. During my eight years in the classroom I taught all levels of math from Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus. I enjoy learning and try to pass along some of my enthusiasm to my students.
