My comments on tutoring Hearing Impaired : I have worked with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in academic and social environments. I have worked in in ASL, Signed English, SimCom, and Oral environments.

I was a teacher of deaf and hard of hearing students of all ages and abilities for 33 years. I have a sign language background and use all modes of communication to assist students. My students varied in all ability levels from learning support to life skills in addition to hearing impairment. I am currently a student at East Stroudsburg University, studying special education and psychology. I am just finished my first semester of student teaching and will be completing the second one in the fall, graduating in December. I have completed several hours tutoring for college of the past 3 years. I have also had two student teaching placements already. The first was in a third grade inclusion setting and the second in a k-2 life skills room. In both settings I was teaching all subjects on several different levels.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began working as a Water Safety Instructor when I was 16 and taught swimming to people age 3 to age 76. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at West Virginia university and taught my own section of a one credit course required of all freshmen students while working on a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While working on my MA in English Literature with a Certificate in Folklore at George Mason university, I worked as a substitute teacher and then was hired as a full time middle school English teacher. I worked as a middle school English teacher until April 2010.
