My comments on tutoring Special Education : Specializing in Teaching students with Learning Disabilities and Autism

I employ specialized methods of instruction. When working with the learning disabled, I take the time to diagnose their processeing abilities and learning style. My interventions are targeted and I am able to teach my students to use their strengths to help them overcome their weaknesses. After high school I achieved a BS from George Peabody College for teacher, however did not teach for money until many years later after I received my MS. My work in clinical psychology has been mostly with children, the severely mentally ill, and abuse cases. My last full time position was teaching high school material in a one room school to students who were wards of the state. I taught anger management for the local courts for eight years. Now I teach parenting classes for divorcing couples for the Giles County court. I also occasionally teach a seminar for attorneys on body language.

Teaching is my passion. Students need to be challenged, engaged, and eager to learn which is fueled by the enthusiasm of the teacher. I recognize that not every student in my classroom learns in the same manner. Various teaching methods need to be combined so that students have the opportunity to learn in multiple ways.
