As an average person, I enjoy teaching children the values and importance of their education while befriending them and understanding where they are in relation to their social-emotional, physical, and educational development.
No two children are the same, and we know that this is correct, so therefore it applies to their learning ability as well. I believe all students have the ability to succeed. In my experience, the most important thing to remember is that all students learn differently, and sometimes what seems like an impossible task just needs to be presented differently for better understanding. Relating the material to situations and applications that are relevant and familiar to that particular student is a much more productive and beneficial way to have students retain information. I try very diligently to make each learning experience count and have students enjoy the learning process.

A Little Bit About Me...

In the process of earning my BA in History (minor in Archaeology), I became familiar with a broad range of historical subjects. My certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) gave me a familiarity with mathematics and statistics, as well as conventions of scientific research and reporting. My MA required a publication-ready thesis, which would not have been possible without organization and self-motivation.
It is widely acknowledged that students learn in a variety of ways. In a tutoring environment, I believe in discovering each student’s optimal learning strategy, as well as identifying techniques for making other styles of teaching accessible. I aim to enable further education, as well as transmit more urgently needed information.
