I have enjoyed teaching people from 10 to 60+ years of age for the past 40 years.I pride myself as being patient and considerate. I attempt to present the subject material in a real world context so that the student is more likely to find significance in the subject. I love to work with children of any age. I have been volunteering for over 15 years helping wherever and whenever I can to help make the lives of children more enriched. I have two boys of my own (age 10 and 14) and have been successful in helping them achieve the best they can. I have been teaching kids as a substitute for many years and went back to school in my middle 30's to become a teacher. Unfortunately the availability of teaching positions in my area has prevented me from full time employment but I've kept myself busy subbing and working with young adults and those with disabilities further their educational needs. I believe in a pretty simple rule; repeat, repeat, repeat. Learning math and physics through example is the best way. Repeating these examples is a sure way to success. They student may not like math or physics, but once they start to do well in it they'll come to love it. During my studies at SUNY Buffalo I tutored in Regents Math which I also took when I was in high school. In Virginia Tech I was a Graduate Research Assistant. I ran Aerospace Engineering labs, assigning work to undergraduate students which I graded. I was available for multiple hours per week assisting students in their homework and lab reports. I sincerely believe that all students are teachers themselves. At any age, youth have the unrestricted ability to create and imagine anything they want. As a teacher, I believe it is my duty to guide the youth to find these paths of creation. Specifically, I believe that a student of any age, of any background, and of any ability has the ability to succeed in a musical setting. Although I firmly believe in the classical teaching methods, I also highly regard the guidance of self-teaching methods that allow youth and adults to create.
