My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I have a Masters degree in special education. I also have 10 years of experience in the middle school level working with kids with ADD/ADHD.

I have been teaching special education for 10 years. I started in Henderson, NV where i taught in a co-taugt setting. I taught English, reading, and science. Furthermore, I taught in a resource class setting for 2 years. Moreso, I taught 8 years in Carson City NV. I taught English in a co-taught setting and English,reading, and study skills in a resource room. I also have experience in a inclusion setting. This is where special education students are enrolled in a general education class with special education supports. I did that for 2 years.
I use positive rewards systems in my classroom. I also feel effort is the most important element of success when working with students with disabilities.

I’ve never bought into the argument that some kids just can’t do math. There is plenty of truth that some learn math much quicker and easier than others, but with a good work ethic and plenty of encouragement all kids are capable of learning these sciences. I feel the most important thing to do as a teacher is to stay positive, and try to somehow relate the math problems to real life situations. When correcting a student, it’s vital to carefully choose your words, for a harsh response will demoralize the student’s spirit and desire to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher’s assistant for photography in high school, I realized that I had a natural aptitude for teaching and breaking subjects down into manageable parts. In college, I was the person that other students came to for guidance with difficult topics, from mathematical equations to evolutionary theory. Since I earned my BS in wildlife biology, I have taught in many capacities, including as a substitute teacher and as a trainer for new employees.
