When I graduated college I found myself wanting to help others. I began doing this by counseling youth who had substance abuse issues. For a time I also worked with the youth at a homeless shelter. Helping them with homework, ESL studies, and math skills. The youth there were a variety of ages and backgrounds, so I had to adapt my style to their needs. My education allowed me to focus on child development and the various stages of cognitive development. This helped shape my ability to help a variety of age groups based on their level of understanding. By relating information in terms that were easy to understand for them, I have been successful in helping them learn new skills and ideas.

During the last three years of my undergraduate college career, I was a Mathematics tutor for student athletes. Although the courses covered while tutoring ranged from basic math to calculus, I am more comfotable tutoring algebra and geometry. I earned my BA with a double major in Mathematics and Russian in just four years. After college, I helped my sister and step-sister with their math and math-related physcis problems.
During my three years of formal tutoring, I was able to change my tutoring styles to fit the needs of the student. Everyone learns differently and it is important to realize and adjust my tutoring accordingly.

I love to see a student light up when he realizes for the first time that he is capable of achieving success in an area that he has previously experienced failure.
