I graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Science. While at Coastal I co-founded a Shark Research Club and performed population studies on sharks in Winyah Bay, SC. After graduation I worked at a Shark Research facility in South Bimini, Bahamas, where I worked hands on with Doctorate students on various projects. I am currently a Science Instructor at The Newfound Harbor Marine Institute in Big Pine Key, Florida.

My experiences as the oldest of seven children instilled in me the desire to educate others, so I obtained my BS degree in Biology and Secondary Education. I taught 7th and 8th grade sciences for five years before staying home to be a full time mother and substitute teaching on the high school level for 3 more years. I operated a small daycare during my children's growing years before returning to work fulltime in the business world. I have trained, mentored and supervised many, many young people over the years and still enjoy great personal reward from helping them grow as individuals, gain self-confidence and learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

My first major mentoring/teaching experience occurred in college when I began leading study groups and eventually organizing tutoring sessions with a number of my fellow English, Calculus, and Physics students. I then obtained a position as a youth counselor with the YMCA and quickly moved up to Site Coordinator where I was in charge of my own after school care group, including being in charge of organizing activities and managing youth counselors. Most recently I underwent PADI Divemaster training where I had real world experience teaching and assisting PADI Open Water students with classroom, confined water, and open water training.
