I taught 7th and 8th grade sciences for five years before staying home to be a full time mother and substitute teaching on the high school level for 3 more years. I operated a small daycare during my children's growing years before returning to work fulltime in the business world. My style tends to range based on who I am trying to teach, and I suppose is most accurately labeled as adaptive. I understand that different people learn things in different ways, and so I try to accommodate that with my teaching. For instance if I found that a student learns better visually then I would attempt to use visual cues and examples in lesson plans to make the material as easy to understand as possible. I also believe in keeping a very loose and pleasant atmosphere, and making sure that everyone feels comfortable and safe, which I believe also assists in the learning process. I thoroughly enjoy teaching young minds. Regardless of the reason that student is seeking tutoring, whether it be a demonstrated deficiency in performance, or a desire to excel in the subject matter, tutoring is an ideal method to provide individualized instruction to the student and tailor that instruction for maximum efficacy. As a tutor, one may vary their teaching style from student to student and further modify their approach with each student dependent upon daily emotional and motivational changes of said student.
