I take a hands on approach to teaching. The best way to learn is by using a three step program. 1) Explain and project the information onto the student, 2) Work the problem out with the student, and 3) Supervise as the student attempts the problem individually. When working with older students I typically use a teaching style that involves asking the student a series of questions such that the student ends up answering their own question through deductive reasoning. I have found that a student utilizing this pedagogical method not only tends to more effectively remember the answers to the questions but understands the thought process that allowed them to arrive at those answers.
