Experience Summary
Currently working as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Ohio University in the department of electrical engineering and computer science. I have more than three years of MATH teaching experience in academic advancement center of Ohio University Library. Three years of math tutoring experience has not only helped me keep my intellect sharp but more importantly helped me hone my skill of being able to explain Math concepts to students in a very simple and easy to understand manner. Some of the subjects I have taught over the past three years are: Calculus, probability, statistics, algebra and differential equations. And I would say I have loved every bit of this experience.
Teaching Style
Over the past three years, I have tutored more than 40 undergraduate students in various capacities. Not surprisingly, my teaching style has varied quite a bit depending on my audience. Getting students to focus and engaging them in conversations that would get them interested in this subject has been the key. Dissecting a problem down to basic concepts and then explaining it in a simplified fashion has been my style and that has helped my students quite a bit. Very specifically, I usually spend first five minutes understanding student’s issues with a particular chapter or problem. Subsequently, I follow up on that with simple examples that explain these concepts which help students to grasp the concept easily.
