I obtained my interpreting/transliterating degree from Columbus State Community a college in 1999, established my own interpreting agency one year later. I have been a professional interpreter for 15 years and I am nationally certified. I have interpreted in every situation imaginable and then some! I love what I do and I enjoy passing my knowledge on to practicum students from local colleges.
Practice practice practice! Asl is not a language you can learn from a book. It is concept based and requires a lot of time.

I am still a student in high school. I am a junior and take all senior classes. My favorite subject is math. I work really good with younger children and take my time to help them learn what they struggle in. When I was younger I had never wanted to get help for math and I took it upon myself to learn it and now its my strongest subject.

I believe the best way to teach students is by utilizing a variety of learning styles. For example, for a visual learner, diagrams and pictures should be used but in order to compliment that repeating audible explanations would be great for someone who is an auditory learner. For any learner, the amount of repeated material provides for good review for students to make connections and the material to be cemented into the human mind.

As a recent college graduate, I feel that I have received the formal training necessary to become a teacher. I have obtained a BS in Early Childhood Education. I am currently pursuing my BS degree in business management and finance. I have completed all of my math requirements and passed calculus with an "A" average. I home school my 9 year old daughter and really enjoy watching her learn and grow.
