As a computer science teaching assistant I was often presenting students with their first experience in a new field, as a result, I have adapted a teaching style which draws upon my background in the sciences to offer real life examples and helpful tidbits to further a students understanding. I have a B.A. in Accounting as I have a great passion for the financial world. I have always LOVED math as I feel it gives me a great sense of accomplishment when I am able to take a problem that I've been given and find a solution. I have a strong desire to pass this on to others. I have been working in Outdoor Education for the past year and a half. I spent 7 months living and working at a boarding school. If someone would pay me to be a student, I could continue going to school for my whole life. I love to learn and come from a family of teachers. My award for service learning integrated information from the fields of Education and Sociology to improve learning opportunities for abused children. I have extensive experience writing and editing through professional training (BA in Journalism) and experience (various editing projects). I participated in mentoring projects in my undergrad experience. I co-presented a workshop on Adult Learning Styles at an AmeriCorps conference.

I teach by example, leading the student through a problem by asking questions about each step so that they can learn how to approach the problem themselves. I watch and evaluate the students as they work and provide guidence when thy make errors. I enjoy interacting with children of all ages and I do so in a kind and curteous manner. In my acedemic training I have taught Lab classes in general, analytical, organic, biochemistry and advanced chemistry courses.
