Basic Learning Skills is one of my top subjects! I hold daily "workshops" in my classroom helping students with study skills and help with homework or unclear assignmens.

I have a calm, loving environment in my classroom. I expect the best from my students and they never let me down. I play classical music during their work time and allow them to work in partners, groups, and individually daily. I also hold what I call "workshops" for students who need that extra help with the lesson I just taught. It seems so much nicer than to negatively call the students back to my table that "don't get it!!".
I am beginning my 14th year of teaching. I have taught from 3rd to 6th grade, with a heavy focus on Reading and Language. I also taught Adult Literacy classes and have worked as the Reading Specialist at our school which involved working with teachers on best practice in Reading Instruction. I have worked in Special Education as a pro-paraprofessional for 14 years and as a teacher 1 year. I now work for Cheaha Regional Headstart. A Little Bit About Me...

I would say my teaching style is more relaxed. I believe this helps one see students weaknesses and strengths better. It also allows one to compare the overall effect of teaching for each student. When I see a student falling behind then thats when I take action and try top get them where they should be in that area.
My experience is one that has taken me many different places to meet many diffrent people. I have always had a gift of helping others and conveying to them my knowledge. I obtained my BA in English Communication from Talladega College and also i have a minor in History. I have had a great deal of expereince in writng papers, essays, articles ,and reports. During my time in college, I also tutored Spanish speaking students in the usuage of the English language.
