More About This Tutor...

As I finished up my studies, started tutoring for lower level math majors. This included Calculus I,II,III, and statistics. As I moved on through classes, I began teaching more abstract classes in Mathematical theory. This experience has helped me able to explain a complex topic in simple terms.
I usually spend the first session finding a child's weaknesses in the subject. After this, I will prepare a list of problems for the child to work on under my supervision. As he works I will let him make his mistakes and then help him correct them. This, in my opinion, is the greatest way to learn math. Practice makes perfect.

I believe that Mathematics is the language of all sciences, and that children need a good foundation in this subject to succeed. I am passionate about achieving understanding of Mathematical topics in a child, since I believe many children dislike Math simply because they do not understand it. I greatly enjoy working with all types of children and look forward to contributing to bettering our future by working with our young people one on one. I am moving to the Newark, DE area at the end of August.
My diverse academic career has provided me with a greater knowledge and understanding of Mathematics than many of my peers. I have taken numerous courses in Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Exercise Science since I hold a B.S. in both Mathematics and Exercise Science. Working with students in math, I like to ask what the student enjoys doing while not in school. I like to relate this to the math to make it more interesting as well as making it fun. This will also make the student more comfortable and lowers the stress level. In lower level courses in basic math up to middle level courses such as algebra, the methods used are integrating the content into the unsolved variables and/or word problems. In higher level courses such as differential calculus, I like to give a specific scenario where the content would relate to what they would do in the activity or hobby outside of school.
