Pre-Algebra is one of my top subjects! This and Algebra I are my two strongest areas. I consider "pre-algebra" to be the same as the cumulative middle school course called "8th grade mathematics" as opposed to "math" which I would consider "elementary math." When I got certified to teach in Virginia, this was my focus! The reason: This is the foundation for all math that follows--including Algebra I. If you learn how to problem-solve and other basic skills that enable to you take what you know and apply it in situations that might look slightly or significantly different, it enables you to effectively problem solve as you continue to further your education. I discuss in length the whole topic first and then try to ascertain students understanding level on the topic. Then I try to prepare a personalized strategy for each student based on his/her grasping ability. This usually involves teaching those topics again, giving home assignments to students, periodically conducting unit tests and assessing them. I undertake quiz sessions to keep a track on student's progress. I make sure that my class environment turns to be interesting for the students by maintaining a friendly approach. My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : As I am very well knowledgeable in Algebra , pre-algebra is also a subject that I am familiar with.

Laid back but serious as student learning subject matter is the most important factor in yuoring.
Have tutored for five years with Wyzant, Tutoring Center of Herndon and on my own. My main concern is too make sure student is confortable in his/her understanding the subject material.
