I believe all students have the ability to succeed. In my experience, the most important thing to remember is that all students learn differently, and sometimes what seems like an impossible task just needs to be presented differently for better understanding. Relating the material to situations and applications that are relevant and familiar to that particular student is a much more productive and beneficial way to have students retain information. I have taught and done research in mathematics for over 30 years and have tutored students at the high school and college level during the same period, as well as mentoring them in research projects.
