A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored and mentored in the Seaford School District for 4+ years under the Junior Achievement Program and have worked more informally with my three children and their friends in Math and Science. I have organized and produced "Mr. Science" shows for PTA functions and taught math concepts through the use of Color to show the benefit of learning both Cartesian and Polar coordinates in a fun environment for in-class instruction and summer programs. I was recognized as "Volunteer of the Quarter" in the Seaford Pride magazine.
I enjoy working with students in small groups, or one-on-one, I believe that in order to help a student succeed in a subject matter in is first necessary to show him/her a real life application of the skill set you are teaching. In my experience with teaching, I find that the best way to connect and convey the information is to provide aural, visual and experiential exposure to the material. Everyone does not learn at the same pace or through the same exposure to material. It is also important to be perceptive to the possibility of student frustration as this is almost always a road block that will arise and if not identified can lead to lower absorption of the material or complete lack of understanding and drive altogether.
