I love the written word and reaching people, so I ultimately chose to major in journalism. My love for teaching and instructing students led me to pursue my minor in education. In the past three years, I've tutored undergraduates in writing (grammar, composition, etc), graduate students (editing theses), proofing resumes and technical documents, and tutoring elementary and high school students in reading and basic math.
College students are difficult to work with because they think they know it all. Our school accepts students from 12-17 and I work with students in each age/grade level. I helped create our school's After School Program and I currently run the program. This entails me working with girls on their own individual goals that span all grades, all learning levels, and subjects. Working with at-risk girls has taught me that anyone, no matter the age or circumstance, can learn and do well in school. An education can be the one factor that can change someone's life and I think every student deserves the chance and opportunity to do their best in school.

I have two degrees, the first degree - Associates of Science degree in health, which has given me the understanding in science. A Little Bit About Me...

Coming from a family of educators, I knew from an early age that I would become a teacher myself; therefore, all the steps taken to prepare for my professional life have been to enable me to be the best teacher I can be. I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of South Alabama. I received classroom teaching experience at a local middle school and as a university instructor. I currently have an extremely rewarding position with the Mobile Housing Board developing, coordinating, and instructing GED preparation classes. With this program I teach GED concepts and both group and individually tutor numerous students. I take pride in the fact that 100% of the students I referred to the official GED test obtained their GED.
