A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that each student has their own style of learning and soak up information differently then other students. I myself like to learn visually and hands on. I have tried many styles of learning to see what works for me. I record lectures, take my own notes, like to question myself while I'm studying for a test. I think connecting something to something you already know will help you retain that new information very well. It makes me feel great when I know I have taught someone well and that they actual understand the information and are not just regurgitating what I am telling them.

The different lifestyles of our students affect their learning behaviors. A child who has never been more than ten miles from home and whom has never seen a play, may find it difficult to relate to William Shakespeare. We are required to complete 17 hours of education each year relating to the laws and regulations for the services of the disabled as well as specifically for individual diagnosis. I have a positive and patient way of getting through to students. Science was my favorite subject matter in college and I like to break down difficult information into terms that are easier to understand and follow. For example, I like to break down scientific terms by their roots. In doing so, my students not only remember what the terms mean for that class but can also apply that knowledge in future class work.
