More About This Tutor...

When I teach, I like to focus on the conceptual part of the subject before diving into the problem solving aspect. I believe it is essential to understand the significance of the matter, not just go through the motions.
During my time at the University of South Carolina, I was a part-time tutor for the athletic department. There, I provided academic assistance in accounting, college calculus and statistics. I use math on a constant basis, as I interned as an auditor at a public accounting firm in Columbia and was an CoOp analyst for Johnson and Johnson. Math is definitely my strong suit and I've always been able to communicate my knowledge effectively to others. In High School I received 5s on both the AB and BC Calculus Advanced Placement exams.

I do enjoy teaching and learning with elementary level children. I like to teach interactively asking students questions about the material covered during each educational session. The interactive style enables me to learn more about each students learning style. As much as possible, I try to tailor my teaching technique to a method that works best for the student.
I excelled as a 'teaching' team leader as a student of the Business Management program at the University of Phoenix. I earned my bachelor's degree graduating with a 3.45 GPA. While taking the lead on team-based assignments, I developed a passion for teaching. Assisting others in creating persuasive essays, attention-gripping novels and intellectually researched term papers became a challenge I learned to embrace and enjoy. I tutored many fellow students during my college career in grammar, creative writing, language art ... read more

I love working with people whether they are adults or children. I have a desire for helping anyone achieve their goal for life. I know how important it is to assist others because I support disabled and special needs individuals, so I have to teach them how to be self sufficient, according to their level of understanding. I also realize how important it is to have patience when mentoring them. I know everyone is on a different level, so it might take longer for some to learn, compared to others. It's not where you start or how long it takes, it's just important to finish.
As a Strayer University graduate, I was determined to achieve the goal I had set for my life in Accounting. I have to admit it was very challenging for me because I was returning to school, after being out for 30 years, so I could enhance my education It's better to complete your education when you're younger, so ... read more

I have ten years of experience working with all ages of children in an educational setting, including children with special needs. While I am most comfortable with mathematics and language arts, I am qualified to teach all core subject areas. I also taught pre-k and kindergarten for several years. In addition to holding a Masters of Education in elementary education, I also have a B.A. in mathematics and economics with a minor in British literature. I have certifications in elementary education and Montessori early childhood education.
